Puff Daddy将Police的经典名曲《Every Breath You Take》改编而成《I’ll Be Missin g You》。此曲为Puff Daddy向其好友Notorious B.I.G.致敬的作品。这首翻唱成HIP HOP 版本的单曲于1998年推出后，几乎在全球同时拿下冠军宝座。 Puff Daddy（Puffy）自小生活在哈林区，与姐姐Keisha一起由母亲Janice抚养。他的父亲是个黑帮中人，在他只有三岁的时候就被枪杀了。十三岁时在当地的一家图书馆里当学徒。高中毕业后就进了Howard University 并成为一个协会的干事。Puff Daddy在学校的足球队中身材瘦削，他便憋着气使自己胸膛鼓胀，看起来显得很健硕，于是这世界闻名的外号“ Puffy”就由此而起。不过一年半后，Puffy就退学了，跑到Uptown/MCA Record s当实习生，又被无端解雇。他是个积极的人，凭借在唱片公司学到的东西，他开始筹划B ad Boy Entertainment。 公司成立之初，名气不大，唱片销量低微，Puffy只有做混音工作，为多名R&B歌手组合制作唱片，包括：Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men , Mariah Carry, TLC, SWV, lil\' kim。。经过一段艰辛的奋斗，94年是他的转折点，他跟Notorious B.I.G.(B.I.G.)、 Fa ith Evans（B.I.G.妻子）以及Craig Mack等人签约，重新混音的作品"Flava in Yar Ear "(featuring LL Cool J,Busta Rhymes,Rampages and Notorious B.I.G.)打上了流行榜十大，并为Badboy Records创造第一个白金销量。95年B.I.G.的主打曲"Big Papa"进入流行榜第六位，其大碟"Ready To Die"创下双白金佳绩！并赢得相当的知名度。随后又得到 M ase, Lox , Total(与Faith Evans同是B.I.G.背景和声组合）的加盟。正当一帆风顺之际，Puffy跟B.I.G.和Death Row Records的Tupac Shakur（2 Pac)和 该公司的老板Suge Knight结怨，甚至对簿公堂。Shakur控告Puffy在94年对他枪击，并嘲笑 B .I.G.，说曾跟B.I.G.妻子Faith Evans同床，还拍了一个MTV，里面以人物P.I.G.和 Buff y对他们进行影射攻击。96年9月，Shakur被不明枪手射杀，而Suge也被判入狱。 1997年3月，Puffy和B.I.G.在L.A出席派对出来时，B.I.G.被一准备多时的枪手伏击，当时Puffy正在他前方的车子里。惊慌失措地将B.I.G.送到医院，Puffy几乎疯掉。可惜 B .I.G.还是回天乏术……三周后，Puffy第二张专辑成功登上冠军宝座。 失去挚友和左右手，Puffy极度沮丧，他感到自己没有了B.I.G.不能再工作下去，他决定退休。休息了大半年，Puffy终于想通，他要继承B.I.G.。于是他重新投入工作，完成了 B.I.G.只做了一半的专辑"Hell Up In Harlem"，并改名为"No Way Out"意为没有出路，以抒发他丧友之痛。该专辑继续创下辉煌战绩。随后，Puffy和其余歌手们举行了巡回演唱会悼念B.I.G.,这是场纯说唱的音乐会，也是该年度第二大演唱会。 "I\'ll Be Missing You"令他获得98’GRAMMY AWARD的Best Duo or Group大奖，此曲是P uffy为了纪念B.I.G.而作的，还请B.I.G.遗孀Faith Evans作背景和声，甚是感伤。 如今，他成立了几个非营利机构照顾当地穷人和孤儿。他认为自己是个“工作狂”，他几乎一天20小时在工作，当他工作完成后，就到海滩别墅渡假。
