Liz Phair，全名是Elizabeth Clark Phair，她是90年代地下Lo-Fi的女性先驱。她气质典雅不凡，又有着不羁的个性。
1967年她生于美国康奈提格州，刚出生就遭父母遗弃，后被一位好心的外科医生收养。
少年时代的音乐修养成为了她如今创作的基础，很小的时候她就会用钢琴写曲，13岁的时候又开始学习吉他。这使她的创作更富有多元化的音乐元素。
后来她考取了Ohio的Oberlin大学，主修炭画艺术。这时的Phair已经不满足一个无名的摇滚听众了，她发现周围的人甚至是精神病患者都向往成为嬉皮士，于是她拿起结他，开始了创作和演唱的生涯.
